Abandon All Ships

Hmm... It's been awhile, and what better band to get me back in the mood than Abandon All Ships? Their another metalcore/post-hardcore/techno combination (or better known as synthcore, as their Wikipedia puts it), but they're one of the best at it.

The band hails from Toronto, Ontario, and they formed in 2006. They unfortunately have only one studio album, titled Geeving. It's pretty damn good, however. Oddly enough, they started out playing Norma Jean covers, according to their Wikipedia, but I'm not sure if its the metalcore band Norma Jean, or Norma Jean the country singer that they're referring to, or possibly the circus elephant buried in Illinois. I'll just leave it a mystery.

As they don't have much to pick from, I'm going to have to go with their song Megawacko, as it is one of my favorites of theirs. Happy travels.

BrutalxMetal Hardcore

Well upon request, I'm gonna put some brutal metal on here. I'm personally not a fan of brutal metal, but I have for you a video that I think might just be the greatest thing to ever come to youtube, besides every double rainbow related video. But I digress. This is Six Feet Under - Seed of Filth, but its not the official music video. You'll see.

The Greek Seductress

Sleeping With Sirens.  Nuff Said.  I don't have to go into much detail about them to let you know that this band is just about the best as it gets as far as post-hardcore gets.  The best thing I can do for you guys is let you listen to them.  So here is Sleeping With Sirens - If I'm James Dean, Then You're Audrey Hepburn.

Also, I'd like to add that if I could have sex with any one person's voice in the world, it would be their singer's voice.

Help me out guys/Ashes of Adonis

Instead of posting about a well-known band, I decided that today would be all about local bands.  Where I live, the cool thing to do is go to the Championship and see local bands perform.  As I have a lot of friends in bands, I like to go there and buy tickets to support upcoming artists.  So if anybody here has a band they would like people to check out, post it.

This one's going to be anything goes.  I don't care what genre you got, just post it here.  It'll help spread their name out to the public and get them heard.  My brother is even in a band, and he would be able to vouch for the fact that just having their stuff heard helps the band gain fans.  Unfortunately, my brother doesn't have any videos on Youtube, but I will post one of my other friend's music.

They are a metalcore band, so it fits really well with the whole blog.  They are, however, getting much more popular every time they play.  They're band is called Ashes of Adonis, and I'm personally friends with every member besides the bassist.  Listen to their song, which I unfortunately don't know the name of, check out their other videos, add them on Facebook, and just support them in general.  An early fanbase is the key to a band becoming successful.  Just post the name or link of any other local bands that you think should be heard.

Not The Movie

Time for another from Ohio.  The Devil Wears Prada is just about one of the best metalcore bands in the essence that it is exactly what metalcore is supposed to be.  It's very simple in that aspect, but it's very technical in the fact that every member is extremely talented, and they show it.

Their breakdowns are nearly unmatched.  I was listening to them today on the way home from school, and well, I think i fell in love.  I knew that was the band I would blog about when I got home.  With three albums and a new EP out, Zombie, they are also one of the most successful bands, as far as the genre goes, and their popularity continues to grow.  I definitely recommend checking out their EP, and if you have Rock Band, download the tracks they have available.

At first I was in a bit of an argument with myself about which songs to feature with this post.  All their songs are so good that it would be hard to pick out one that stood out from the rest.  That argument, however, was short lived when I scrolled over Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over.  Now here it is.

Old Avenged Sevenfold

Of all bands that have changed, Avenged Sevenfold has done the most of it. They went from their metalcore roots to some sort of shitty alternative hard rock. But when they were in the metal game, they were the best at it.

I just have to say now, if you haven't listened to their older stuff, and you're a fan of their newer stuff, you need to be informed. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, their first album, gives me multiple orgasms by the end of the second song. I am very serious about this. It's spectacular. It was good, progressive metalcore.

With the debut of City of Evil, everything went downhill.  City of Evil in itself wasn't all that bad, but it just wasn't the same.  Then their self-titled album came out.  I threw up.  I haven't even listened to their newest.  I'm terrified of how bad it's most likely to be.  That's why I'm going to treat you to some of Avenged Sevenfold's music of their glory days.  This is Avenged Sevenfold - Turn the Other Way

Christian metalcore

This post will be a bit more interactive.  Basically I have come to notice that many metalcore bands are religious in nature.  I'm just gonna give you guys the ones I know in return for other Christian metalcore bands that you may know.

Also I would like to know if there's any Jewish metalcore, because dat shit would be tight.

Bands I know of:
August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, Texas in July, Underoath

This post's video will be The Devil Wears Prada, Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over.
